This is a must-try recipe if you love to make side dishes in your slow cooker. I saw this recipe in a few places online and had to try it. When I bought the Lipton onion soup mix for this recipe, I read the same recipe on the back of the box, but of course, that version is for the oven. This will be a great recipe for me with the summer weather coming soon.

Lipton Onion Potatoes Ingredients
- Potatoes: Russet potatoes are the go-to potato of choice for this super easy side dish.
- Lipton Onion Soup Mix: The flavors in this mix are dried onion flakes, soy sauce, and onion powder. You can also make homemade onion soup mix if you want a version with fewer preservatives.
- Olive Oil: You’ll drizzle this oil as a final touch just before slow cooking the potatoes.
- Seasonings: More black pepper and garlic powder add even more flavor to this great recipe.

How to Make Lipton Onion Soup Potatoes
- Add sliced potatoes to a greased crockpot, arranging them as desired.
- Sprinkle with seasonings and soup mix, then drizzle with oil.
- Cover and cook on HIGH until the potatoes are tender.

What to serve with these potatoes
- These are very similar to oven roasted potatoes which means they will go perfectly with slow cooker salmon, steak bites, or even grilled chicken in the summer.
- Enjoy these tender and golden brown potatoes by themselves with various toppings such as a drizzle of melted butter, a dollop of sour cream, and sliced green onion.

Recipe Info and Variations
Do the potatoes brown? The potatoes will be slightly crispy around the edges, but these are very tender potatoes overall. The slow cooker is not an oven and will not brown things.
Potato Swap: Red or gold potatoes can be used in this recipe, although russet potatoes taste the best.
Keeping them warm: You can keep them warm in the crockpot, but be sure to turn the setting to ‘keep warm’ or off completely.
Use butter: If you don’t have olive oil, you can use vegetable oil or melted butter as an alternative.

Have you ever tried making these in the oven? If so for how long at what temperature?
Made this today very tasty , nice change
Could you cook this on low for longer time frame? Looking at setting it in the morning while I’m at work.
I think 5-6 hours on low would be the longest I would let this go.
I’ll see what the recipe says make sure you mix the soup over the potatoes but I’m afraid that you would stir the potatoes up-could you just make everything in a bowl and then pour it over the potatoes?
Yes, you can do that. Will work fine.
Can I half recipe? For a 2 quart slow cooker?
That should work fine!
Can I use carrots instead of potatoes in this recipe? Have you tried it with carrots? The only carrot recipes I’ve found have added sugar and I’m not a fan of that bc carrots are sweet already. Thanks!
It’s hard to say without testing it. It may be good.
I noticed it doesn’t say the potatoes should be peeled. Are they really unpeeled in this recipe?
I do not peel them for this recipe, but you can if you want.
I am definitely making this potato recipe. Is it wise to add a little cheese sauce?
