- These are very similar to oven roasted potatoes which means they will go perfectly with salmon, steak, or even chicken.
- You can also put them with roasted or steamed vegetables in addition to a main meat dish of your choice.

How does the oil effect the recipe? What if it was switched out for butter?
You can use butter instead of oil with no problems.
Could you double this or does it need just the one layer so it gets crispy touching the bottom?
You could double it, you may need to add a little time though.
Would red potatoes work just as well? Thanks!
yes!
Try this with drained kraut. It is good, but probably not for everyone.
how much time is you did 4 pounds potatoes?
Please amend your written directions. You did not indicate to spray the crockpot first with cooking spray. After mine stuck I read your narrative and saw that step, but it is not included in the recipe.
I’m so sorry, I fixed the directions.
Problem is not fixed. I did the same thing. When I got to bottom of recipe, it said spray or add oil.
The recipe card says it in step one.
Can I replace the Lipton soup mix with anything else? Any powdered broth for instance? Thanks!
You probably could use a powdered broth, ranch or even a leek soup mix.
I used hidden valley dry ranch. It was amazing
The click bait said, Lipton onion soup MEAT LOAF. When clicked, however, it went to this potato recipe. It’s nice, but I want Crockpot Meat Loaf recipe. What happened? If I get a good answer, Ill make them both.
Awe, thank you for letting me know. They are both good! How can they not be. Here is the meatloaf recipe: https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/onion-soup-mix-meat-loaf/
maybe could add smoked sausage rounds or ham pieces too
I need to double the recipe. Will another layer added on top, still cook well?
Did you try this? I want to double the recipe and am curious if anyone has tried it
Can you cut the skin off the potatoes or leaving the skin on would be better?
You can do either! I liked these with the skins on though.
Do you think you could add cut up chicken tenders to this? They would easily cook in 4 hours. I’m always looking for a one pot meal that is savory.
Hi Kelly. I don’t see why not! I love one pot meals myself.
I’ve been making the recipe on the Lipton Onion Soup box in the slow cooker for years. I put the soup mix and oil in a large plastic bag and add the potatoes, then shake them to coat evenly. It works much better than trying to coat the in the slow cooker. Just my 2 cents worth.
Thanks for the tips Nancy!
Nancy, that’s a great idea!
Can this bee on for 8 hours on low
I think it would be too long. 6 hours on low may work ok.
These look amazing and they are so simple to make. I’m making these soon.
Wishes for tasty dishes,
Linda
