My favorite meals to create in the slow cooker are COMPLETE meals! This ham dinner is great for a Sunday dinner, or even a holiday such as Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas.
The crockpot ham dinner is cooked with pineapple and a homemade buttery holiday sauce that goes great not only with the ham, but also the green beans and potatoes as well. You may also like my Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Casserole which is a layered Thanksgiving dinner!
Recipe Ingredients
- Ham: I use 2 small ham steaks that I cut in half (this recipe serves four).
- Potatoes: Baby gold potatoes. If your gold potatoes are larger, cut them in half.
- Green Beans: 1/2 pound of fresh green beans; you can use more if you love green beans!
- Sauce Mixture: Melted butter, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, pineapple juice (from pineapple rings), and these seasonings: cinnamon, clove, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Variations
- Sliced carrots are a great alternative to green beans. Drizzle a little honey over them before serving.
- If you are short on time, you can use one cup of Italian salad dressing instead of the homemade sauce mixture.
- Add the ham steaks and pineapple, layered in between each other, to the middle of the slow cooker. Add the potatoes on one side of the ham and pineapple, then the green beans on the other side.
- In a small bowl, add the butter, pineapple juice, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, cinnamon, and cloves. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour this sauce over everything in the slow cooker.
- Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours. When the cooking time is up, serve and enjoy. If desired, add salt and pepper to the potatoes and green beans.
What to eat with this:
- This is a complete meal; if desired, add dinner rolls with butter.
- Other sides to serve with this are mac and cheese and cranberry sauce. (Try my slow cooker mac and cheese and slow cooker cranberry sauce).
- Serve classic holiday desserts such as slow cooker pumpkin pie or slow cooker pecan pie.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, you can prepare this full ham dinner in the slow cooker ahead of time. However, the cold slow cooker insert may crack once it heats. To lower that risk, I like to leave the stoneware on the counter for about 20 minutes before placing it in the heating element.
You can freeze this meal, though potatoes do have a change in texture once frozen.

Delicious! Thank you! I used carrots instead of beans and added a small onion cut into eighths. I did have to add salt and pepper at the end. This dish smelled heavenly while it was cooking and the flavors were tasty.
I do not like ham slices, it is tough meat. I like to buy small Cure 81 hams just plain with no sugary, pineappley, brown sugary, junk on them, just a plain smoked ham. I buy no other brand than Cure 81 they are the BEST.
I’m looking for ways to make gravy without meat drippings. Any ideas? The only meat drippings I usually have on hand are bacon, and I’m sooo hungry for mashed potatoes and gravy but I hate to make a big batch for just one person. I make baked potatoes and put butter and sour cream or cheese on them sometimes but it’s not the same as a good homemade gravy.
This recipe you posted today sounds good, I may give it a try. I LOVE green beans.
Have you ever bought a gravy packet? They taste WAY better than gravy in a jar.
