Sarah’s Tip and Variations

Swap the Meat: Ground chicken or turkey can be used instead—just brown, crumble, and drain before adding.

Soup Options: Use two cans of any creamy condensed soup—try mushroom, bacon, celery, onion, nacho cheese, or broccoli cheese.

Veggies: Add a few cups of vegetables such as frozen mixed vegetables, green beans or even broccoli.

So the tater tots go in frozen, thawed, or cooked?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

      Frozen!

I LOVED this recipe. I can’t have bacon because of my dietary restrictions but I just throw some on top of my husbands bowl and he can’t tell the difference. I also like add a couple squirts of tobasco sauce at the end before it’s served just to give it that nice little kick.

This was a huge hit with my family! I used thighs and precooked bacon. Instead of the seasonings listed, I used powdered ranch mix. I accidentally got spicy ranch and it was fantastic! I also forgot the onions, but no one noticed. Will be making this again today!

Recipe sounds delicious and haven’t tried it yet but would love to add vegetables to this. Do you see that as an option that would work. If so, what might you suggest? And fresh or frozen? I was thinking broccoli.

    1. Sarah Olson says:

You can add broccoli, fresh or frozen.

  7. MRM says:

How long would you cook it if using rotisserie chicken

    1. Sarah Olson says:

I would do 4 hours on low if I was using rotisserie chicken.

  8. Carol says:

Can you make it in the oven?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

Yes! Though you’ll have to be sure the chicken is cooked through before serving.

Sounds like this would be a good recipe to help use turkey left over from Thanksgiving.

  10. Mary says:

I’d like to make a 4-serving portion. How long should I cook it? Thanks!

    1. Sarah Olson says:

My guess is 4 hours on low.
