I may be too old to be on Tik Tok but I do love checking out the viral recipes. This feta tomato recipe is based on an oven version I saw on Tik Tok.

The recipe starts with grape tomatoes with plenty of seasonings. A block of feta cheese is placed in the center. The tomatoes and seasonings make a homemade tomato sauce for this dish. My twist on this recipe is adding cream cheese for I didn’t think feta was enough to make a sauce for this dish.

How to make Feta and Tomato Pasta:

  1. Add cherry or grape tomatoes to the slow cooker. Add one block of feta and one block of cream cheese.
  2. Drizzle over olive oil. Add salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, red chili flakes and whole garlic cloves on top of the cheeses.
  3. Cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 6 hours.
  4. Stir the cheeses into the cooked tomatoes. You may need to pop some of the tomatoes with your spoon.

What kind of pasta should I use?

Use any of the pastas listed below. I do not recommend egg noodles for the break apart very easily.

  • Rotini
  • Bow-Tie
  • Penne
  • Rigatoni

Can I add chicken?

  • You can add one pound of boneless skinless chicken breast to this recipe if desired at the beginning of the cooking time.
  • Be sure to add additional salt and seasonings if you do.

Can I use only feta?

  • Feta isn’t as creamy as cream cheese.
  • Though if you don’t like cream cheese, you can use 2 blocks of feta instead.

Can I use only cream cheese?

  • If you are not a feta fan, you may want to use 2 blocks of cream cheese instead of any feta.
  • This will make for a very creamy pasta.

So happy to use the slow cooker but the juice it made was excessive.

Could you use sundried tomatoes instead of fresh ? And how much ?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

Hard to say without trying it. If you do, you won’t need to cook near as long.

  4. Barbara says:

What about cooking the pasta along with everything else? When would you add the pasta, about an hour before finishing?

  5. sherry says:

Do you need to add time if you put chicken in at the beginning?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

I think there is plenty of time for the chicken to cook.

    2. Dot Dean says:

Do I add the chicken in one piece ?

      1. Sarah Olson says:

You can dice or leave in one piece. Shred with two forks after cooking if left whole.

    1. Sarah Olson says:

I can’t say without trying it. I apologize.

  10. Kay says:

Could I do this with Brie instead?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

I’m unsure without testing it. You’d have to remove the outer part.
