I may be too old to be on Tik Tok but I do love checking out the viral recipes. This feta tomato recipe is based on an oven version I saw on Tik Tok.

The recipe starts with grape tomatoes with plenty of seasonings. A block of feta cheese is placed in the center. The tomatoes and seasonings make a homemade tomato sauce for this dish. My twist on this recipe is adding cream cheese for I didn’t think feta was enough to make a sauce for this dish.

How to make Feta and Tomato Pasta:

  1. Add cherry or grape tomatoes to the slow cooker. Add one block of feta and one block of cream cheese.
  2. Drizzle over olive oil. Add salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, red chili flakes and whole garlic cloves on top of the cheeses.
  3. Cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 6 hours.
  4. Stir the cheeses into the cooked tomatoes. You may need to pop some of the tomatoes with your spoon.

What kind of pasta should I use?

Use any of the pastas listed below. I do not recommend egg noodles for the break apart very easily.

  • Rotini
  • Bow-Tie
  • Penne
  • Rigatoni

  • You can add one pound of boneless skinless chicken breast to this recipe if desired at the beginning of the cooking time.
  • Be sure to add additional salt and seasonings if you do.

Can I use only feta?

  • Feta isn’t as creamy as cream cheese.
  • Though if you don’t like cream cheese, you can use 2 blocks of feta instead.

Can I use only cream cheese?

  • If you are not a feta fan, you may want to use 2 blocks of cream cheese instead of any feta.
  • This will make for a very creamy pasta.

I rinsed the block of feta and added a few teaspoons of sugar to cut down on the tanginess of the feta. I added two chicken breasts in the beginning. My tomatoes produced lots of juice. I removed the chicken breasts and shredded meanwhile I used a slotted spoon to remove the cheeses and tomatoes and pureed in my Ninja. I loved it. My husband, a very picky eater, did not.

Love love love. I’ve made this several times now, never stops being delicious. For any pescatarians out there, or people who like fish really, I add salmon to it after I’ve mixed in the pasta. Just bake at 425 for at ten minutes with preferred seasonings (I use blackening for the spice) and voila 🙂 Thanks for sharing this great recipe!

If we add chicken do we need to add some liquid so the chicken doesn’t dry out?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

The chicken should create it’s own juices and be fine.

  4. Eric says:

I tried this recipe. It was tasty but super thick and dry. The feta overpowered everything. Did I miss something to make it more creamy?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

Well, the feta is strong, why I use the cream cheese too. Can you imagine it with 2 bricks of feta? Your tomatoes may not have been as juicy as mine. You could add a touch of milk or broth to make a thinner sauce.

I used Barilla legume pasta. I cooked it in the Instant Pot. I put everything in including the pasta, and set on HIGH for 9 minutes. My neighbor and I are such a big fan of this recipe!
