Honey Garlic Steak Bites Ingredients
You need meat and a few pantry ingredients. Find the full recipe in the recipe card.
- Sirloin steak – A lean yet flavorful cut that holds up well in the slow cooker.
- Homemade honey garlic sauce – A balanced blend of sweet, salty, and spicy made from scratch.
- Cornstarch slurry – Thickens the sauce into a glossy glaze that coats the steak bites.
- Butter finish – Adds richness and helps blend the flavors together during the slow cooking process.
Cook’s Notes & Variations
For the best results, take your time when cubing the steak and cut off any fat or grizzly pieces.
If bulk sirloin is unavailable, you can substitute stew meat or cubed chuck roast. Cook for an additional hour to tenderize the meat.
Browning the steak adds great flavor, but if you’re short on time, you can skip this step—the steak will still be tender.
Lessen the sodium content by using low-sodium soy sauce and unsalted butter.
Substitute cubed chicken breasts for honey garlic chicken bites.
You can add vegetables such as mushrooms, bell pepper and onion.
Ways to Serve
Serve over your favorite starch, whether it be steamed white rice, mashed potatoes, or spaghetti noodles.
Add a side dish such as slow cooker Brussels sprouts or slow cooker corn on the cob.
Top the steak and sauce with sesame seeds, or green onions, these aren’t just garnishes, they add texture and flavor. Also, drizzle the honey garlic sauce over it as well.
Honey Garlic Steak Bites Recipe
How to Video
Ingredients
- 3 lbs. sirloin
- 2-3 Tbsp. cooking oil, (can use sesame oil)
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. black pepper
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce

- ½ tsp. red chili flakes
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- ¼ cup salted butter
Instructions
- Heat the cooking in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and season with salt and pepper. Sear the steak bites on all sides until browned, about 2 minutes. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Transfer the browned steak bites to your slow cooker.
- In a small bowl add the honey, soy sauce, garlic, red chili and cornstarch. Whisk until smooth. Pour over the steak in the slow cooker.
- Cut the butter into small cubes and put over the steak.
- Cook on LOW for 5 hours. Serve and enjoy!

Like another reviewer said mine was cooked WAY before the 5 hour mark, so glad I read reviews and decided to check it throughout! My steak bites temperatures were all 177 degrees and above (at the 1 hour 50 minute mark). Flavor is good but time on recipe needs major adjustments (I have never had an issue with my slowcooker with any other recipe). I followed directions exactly and used a Thermoworks thermometer (Iโm a food service worker).
Food in the slow cooker is meant to get hotter than the done mark, so it gets more tender.
I want to give this 5 stars but unfortunately can’t. I followed all of the ingredient proportions and the time it was to be given in the crock pot. About 3 hours in, I checked it, and many bites of the meat were burned and inedible.
The sauce was very good, but the meat that was salvageable was tough and chewy, not at all like I had hoped. If I had not checked it, it would have been a disaster. Not sure what I did wrong … perhaps there was a step that I missed. But I’m pretty good at following directions in a recipe, and this one just did not work out. Too bad, because I spent quite a bit on the meat and had hoped for some leftovers.
Sorry this happened. You’re slow cooker must cook hot, for the slow cooker is just started to heat up at 3 hours on low.
Sounds yummy! I will start looking for bulk sirloin steak, for sure!
