This time of year we make hot beverages in our crockpots for just about every get together! The slow cooker keeps the hot chocolate warm and guests can top their mugs with whatever they choose.

Key Ingredients
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – Using real chocolate (instead of cocoa powder) gives this drink its rich, creamy base.
Whole Milk – A half gallon makes this extra smooth and perfectly indulgent.
White Sugar – Just enough sweetness to balance the chocolate and peppermint.
Peppermint Schnapps – Stir in slowly after the cocoa is heated; it adds that festive minty kick (you can also serve it on the side so guests can choose their strength).
Whipped Cream or Marshmallows – Classic toppings that make each mug feel extra cozy.
Christmas Sprinkles – Jimmies or colored sugar are a fun holiday touch.
Other alcohol choices:
- Bailey’s Irish Cream (chocolate, caramel and whiskey notes)
- Butterscotch Schnapps
- Kahlúa (coffee Liqueur)
- Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur)

How to Make Boozy Hot Chocolate
- Combine chocolate chips, sugar, and milk, then heat until smooth and creamy.
- Stir in peppermint schnapps to taste and finish with your favorite toppings.

Serving Suggestions
Garnish Bar: Set up a toppings station with whipped cream (homemade or spray can), mini marshmallows, chocolate shavings, caramel drizzle, crushed candy canes. Guests can customize their mugs to their liking.
Festive Mugs: Serve the hot chocolate in seasonal mugs or clear glass mugs to showcase the rich, creamy drink. We got these elf mugs at Pottery Barn!
Chocolate-Dipped Rim: Dip the rims of mugs in melted chocolate and then into crushed candy canes, sprinkles, or cocoa powder for an extra treat.
Pair with Cookies: Serve alongside fresh-baked cookies like chocolate chip, snickerdoodles or my cake mix butter pecan cookies.
Alcohol Add-On Station: Provide additional options for guests to spike their drinks, such as Bailey’s, Kahlua, and peppermint schnapps.
Candy Cane Stir Sticks: Use candy canes as stir sticks for added flavor and flair.
