“Yummmm!!! Great flavors, will definitely be my new go-to recipe for Pot Roast. So simple and So delicious!!”

My easy version of a three packet roast is a weeknight dinner saver! The flavors of the mixes meld so well together and flavor the ultra-tender roast. My family loves variations of pot roast dinners, and this one is not a bland recipe at all.
The Ingredients
- Seasoning Packets: Zesty Italian dressing mix, brown gravy mix, and ranch dressing mix easily add all the flavors this roast needs.
- Chuck Roast: I recommend going for a fairly large chuck with lots of good marbling (better for flavor). We also use a chuck roast in our French Onion Pot Roast.
- Veggies: Baby carrots and white onion add heartiness and extra flavor to the roast.
- Water: For cooking and blending of seasoning packets.
Sarah’s Tips & Variations
- Taco Seasoning – Swap out one of the packets for taco seasoning in this three envelope pot roast for a Mexican twist, and add a few jalapenos for heat.
- Lipton Onion – Swap out one of the packets with an onion soup mix! So much onion flavor.
- Less Sodium -To reduce sodium, leave out one of the packets and use more seasonings, such as onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian Seasoning.
- Veggie Packed – You can add vegetables to this dish, such as potatoes, green beans, and mushrooms!
- Roast Swap: Any beef roast works well in this three envelope roast recipe.
How to make a 3 Packet Pot Roast:
- Season the roast with a flavorful blend of three pantry packet mixes.
- Let it slow cook all day with onions, carrots, and broth until melt-in-your-mouth tender.
- Shred the beef and serve with rich gravy and your favorite sides.
My Serving Suggestions
- One of the simplest ways to serve this roast is over a bed of mashed potatoes.
- You can also pair it with other vegetables, such as roasted asparagus, green beans, or a vegetable medley. Try my Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole.
- Top this meal with a bread of your choice. I like homemade biscuits, buttered rolls, or a good piece of cornbread.
- Leftovers can be made into other recipes such as this steak bakes recipe or pot roast nachos.
How to Store and Reheat
Store any leftover roast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat on the stovetop over medium heat until warmed through. For longer storage, transfer to a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.

All I can say is WOW!! This was absolutely AMAZING, and the ONLY way I will make my Pot Roasts from now on. Anyone complaining this will be a sodium overload, I used low sodium beef broth and a low sodium brown gravy packet, and actually had to ADD a little salt. It was PERFECT!! Definitely going to put this on repeat in our house!
