Why You’ll Love This Crockpot Pizza Chicken Recipe
This one is for the pizza lovers in the family. Instead ordering takeout or trying to make pizza crust from scratch, skip it altogether and make this slow cooker pizza chicken recipe. All you’ll need are just a few ingredients, including chicken breasts, pizza sauce, and cheese.
The prep time is quick and the cooking time is just short enough to have this on the table by dinnertime. It’s also a versatile dish. You could set up a pizza bar with lots of topping options for a self-serve lunch, dinner, or potluck meal option.
Recipe Ingredients
- Chicken: You’ll only need about 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, which will be cut into chunks.
- Pizza Sauce: Use your favorite brand of sauce. You can also use tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce.
- Cheese: Mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese are used for flavor and cheesy goodness in every bite.
- Toppings: Pepperoni is one of my favorites to use; however, you can add whatever toppings you’d like turkey pepperoni, green peppers, Italian seasoning, etc.
- Seasonings & Spices: kosher salt, black pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, granulated garlic, fennel seed, and crushed red pepper flakes add additional taste to the pizza. (Find the full recipe in the recipe card below the photos).
Step-by-Step Directions
Step One – Add the cut chicken to the slow cooker. Season with salt, pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, granulated garlic, fennel seed, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well to ensure all the chicken chunks are coated with the spices.
Step Two – Pour the pizza sauce over the chicken, then stir to combine.
Step Three – Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the sauce-covered chicken.
Step Four – Next, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Step Five – Finish by topping with pepperoni slices or your favorite pizza toppings.
Step Six – Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender. Allow the pizza chicken to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
