Slow Cooker Pigs in a Cornfield is corn on the cob, pork and even potatoes cooked together for an easy hearty meal.
This recipe is so unique! Pork chops can be made in so many variations, also try my pork chop cacciatore or my pork chops and onions recipe.
This recipe Slow Cooker Pigs in a Cornfield is a request from a gentleman named Buford, a fan from my YouTube channel. Before he suggested this recipe, I had not heard of this recipe before.
I was almost nervous to search for it. After I did a little research, I knew that this recipe would cook up great in the slow cooker. Thank you, Buford, for suggesting I try this.
How to make Pigs in a Cornfield:
The recipe starts with frozen halves of corn on the cob.
Then I add potatoes and onion in between.
Then I topped that with pork chops and bacon.
A mixture of cream of mushroom soup, milk and seasonings goes over everything in the pot.
7 hours later and this is what the meal looks like.
The recipe isn’t easy on the eyes, but sure tastes good!

We made this last night..had to add some seasoning and chicken broth because it just tasted like cream of mushroom soup. We shredded the pork chops and are gonna add some cream to it and serve it over egg noodles tonight. It was good but needed doctoring

Want to make this , looks great. Any advice on how to make this with less sodium? Maybe some sort of substitute for the second can ? Thanks !! 🙂
Sarah Olson says
Hi, I know the soup can be found in lower sodium (maybe called healthy choice?). Though pork has SO much sodium. May be better to use chicken. Sorry I’m not much help.
Nina says
Use chicken instead of pork.

Make your own thick cream of mushroom (white sauce) with heavy cream and/or milk. You can salt or not salt as much or as little as you like. I do not use canned soups in the recipes that call for it unless I don’t have the time to make my own sauce.

So I’m going to be making this on Sunday And the last time I tried to do potatoes in the crockpot they still came out a little raw has anybody had a problem with this recipe let me know please
Bk says
Yes! I’m cooking now and after 7 hrs still a bit raw. What did you do?
Sarah Olson says
It’s not raw, pork often stays pink in the slow cooker. Check the temprature.

Looks yummy!

While the flavor of the meal was good, my pork loins were tough. I was very surprised. they were also dry as if they were very overcooked.
I followed the recipe exactly even warming my crock pot before I put the ingredients in.
I must say I’m pretty sad. I thought for sure that pork would be so tender I could cut it with a fork. As it is I had trouble cutting it with a knife.
Thanks

Hey! This recipe is in my slow cooker as I type. I added a bag of rainbow baby carrots – should I increase cooking time to 8 hours?
Natasha says
I followed this recipe exactly and my pork chops were still pink after cooking on low for 7 hours. Dinner plans are ruined.
Sarah Olson says
Are they shreddable and up to temperature? If the potatoes were done, the pork is done. Pork chops in the slow cooker can look pink after cooking. If they aren’t hot and shreddable then you need a new slow cooker. 🙂

I know , what you will say already. I didn’t have pork chops so I used chicken breasts. I seasoned them and browned them before adding them . It was so good
Sarah Olson says
Thanks for letting me know how chicken works with this recipe!

So glad I gave this recipe a try. The family loved it. I tried it first just as written. Next time I’ll try seasoning the potatoes a bit. Really great recipe!

I took a gamble on this one, and OMG, I am so glad I did. After the first night, hubby was thrilled we had leftovers. Once the leftovers were gone, I was told in no uncertain terms that I’d have to make this again. And soon.So I did… and then John told me to see what other yummy recipes you might have on here. Sooooo, I bookmarked about a dozen or so to try. 😀

Marvelous!!!!! I don’t even like potatoes cooked in the slow cooker but this is recipe is something else. If you like bland food, follow the recipe. Otherwise, generously season the potatoes with salt, pepper, paprika, thyme (oregano or basil) before placing in the slow cooker. I also seasoned the bone-in pork chops with my favorite spices. I cooked this overnight and I woke up to a wonderful smell. I had a plate for breakfast (don’t judge 🙂 ). Wow, that was GREAT! This recipe is a keeper, no doubt! Thank you for sharing!
