This Slow Cooker Pineapple Jalapeño Ham is an easy way to make a flavorful, sweet and spicy main dish. The pineapple and brown sugar add sweetness, while jalapeños give it a mild kick. Great for holidays or casual dinners with minimal effort.

Ingredients for Spicy Ham

It only takes a few ingredients to get a flavorful spicy ham. Find the full recipe in the recipe card below the images.

Ham, brown sugar, jalapenos, pineapple and onion in front of a slow cooker.

This recipe uses a 6 lb. picnic shoulder ham, which stays tender and flavorful in the slow cooker. Brown sugar adds sweetness, while diced white onion brings a savory base. Canned pineapple chunks with their juice create a tangy glaze, and sliced jalapeños add just the right amount of heat.

How to Make Jalapeno Pineapple Ham

You can make this sweet ham in the slow cooker, see how I do it:

Ham in slow cooker with pineapple, onion and jalapeno on top. Uncooked.

Step One: Place the ham in the slow cooker and add the brown sugar, diced onion, pineapple chunks with juice, and sliced jalapeños.

Step Two: Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours. Slice and serve with the juices, pineapple, and jalapeños.

Cook’s Notes

You can substitute spiral ham, ham steaks, slices, or Black Forest ham—just reduce the cooking time for thinner cuts.

Keep the lid closed while cooking for the best flavor.

For extra heat, leave the seeds in the jalapeños.

My wife is allergic to pineapple. Would it come out just as good without the pineapple?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

Yes, I think it will be fine. I’d add some apple juice if possible.

  4. Art Wynne says:

Can you use fresh pineapple in this recipe instead of canned? If so, how much?

And should you cut the ham and return it to the slow cooker at some point. If so, at what point?

    1. Sarah Olson says:

I would use 2-3 cups of fresh. I slice this, then add back to the juices, right before serving.
