These Slow Cooker Greek Drumsticks have so much flavor and are fall off the bone good!
This Greek chicken turned out great. The chicken can be marinated over night in a ziplock bag with the yogurt marinade or it can be popped directly into the slow cooker the same day. Since the slow cooker heats up slowly, the chicken gets a bit of time to soak up the Greek flavors of the marinade.
The marinade has yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, parsley and salt and pepper. This recipe has all natural simple ingredients but has so much flavor.
Below is the chicken after cooking in the slow cooker but I also put the chicken under the broiler in the oven to get the skin crispy.

Slow Cooker Greek Chicken Drumsticks
Equipment Needed:
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- juice of 1 lemon about 2 tablespoons
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Instructions:
- Add the drumsticks down in the slow cooker. In a small bowl combine the yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper.
- Pour the yogurt mixture over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours without opening the lid during the cooking time.
- After the cooking time is done you may desire to brown the chicken, I do this in the oven under the broiler for about 3 minutes on each side.
- Serve and enjoy!
- NOTE- the yogurt mixture and chicken can be put into a Ziploc bag the night before for extra marinating time.

Hi! I’m trying this tomorrow with a 3lb mix of legs/breasts. I’ve coated the chicken to marinate overnight so I can dump & cook fast tomorrow. I may add additional yogurt in the morning if it looks like it needs it before adding to the CP. I’ll let you know how it goes! 🙂
Sounds great, yes let me know!
This looks really good.
Is it ok to skip the broiling? Just wondering what the texture would be like if that step is skipped.
You can skip it. You will most likely want to remove the skins before serving, for they can tend to be soggy.
Absolutely fantastic! I have made this with both chicken thighs and legs. Perfect every time. Thank you so much for sharing.
Can feta cheese be used? How about Greek yogurt in place of plain?
Hi! I think greek yogurt will work fine. Unsure how the feta would do.
I made this yesterday and holy moly it is soooooo good! I like to have a little bit of liquid in the slow cooker so I put in a mixture of chicken broth and lemon juice, just to fill the base with about an inch of liquid. One of the best chicken recipes I’ve EVER made, will definitely be in my regular rotation going forward!
What can I use if I don’t have yogurt sub with 1 cup of…?
Sour cream would work.
Do you have a time for how long on low instead of high?
I would do 5 hours on low.
Can you use chicken breast instead of drumsticks?
Yes, that should work fine.
Is this 311 caloriescper serving?
Yes
Can you double the recipe in the same crockpot, 4.5 quart size?
Hard to say without trying. If you can fit it all in, it will work.
I was able to fit 13 pieces with enough room on top etc. Set it to 4 hours on high so fingers crossed it cooks.
It will! Keep the lid on.
I love this recipe! I did two teaspoons of greek seasoning and I added chicken broth to thin out the mixture and cover my meat. Really tasty, would make again!
Delicious and so easy!
This looks really yummy!!
Have you tried this with boneless chicken breast?? Sounds so good. Thank you!
