Slow Cooker Sweet Chili Pork is an easy dinner made with pork loin, sweet chili sauce, toasted sesame oil, and more! The sweet, oniony sauce thickens at the end, making it perfect for spooning over the pork and rice.

We love easy Asian dinners like this one; if we aren’t making this, we make Slow Cooker Pepper Steak or Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli.

Why This Recipe is a Keeper

    • I love making new recipes in my slow cooker, especially when they end up being a winner, like this Sweet Chili Pork.
    • This recipe is my own creation. After I made my popular Sweet Chili Chicken recipe, I knew I had to make Sweet Chili Pork.
    • The pork gets ultra tender in the crockpot; you can slice it or cook it a bit longer so it shreds.
    • The sauce that forms while the pork cooks tastes like a homemade sweet and sour sauce; I think you are really going to enjoy this meal!

    The Ingredients

Ingredients for slow cooker sweet chili pork on a table.

Pork: For this recipe, we use pork loin; it has great flavor and gets ultra tender in the crockpot.

Sauces: You’ll need sweet chili sauce (we use Panda Express brand), low-sodium soy sauce for saltiness, toasted sesame oil for its nutty flavor, and rice vinegar to balance the sweetness.

Onion: This adds flavor and texture. Don’t skip this!

Thickener: A simple mixture of cornstarch and water will easily thicken the sauce just before serving.

    Tips & Variations

Add Vegetables: You can add water chestnuts, green beans, or red bell pepper; add these at the beginning of the cooking time.

Sauce Swap: Can't find sweet chili sauce? Use a bottle of sweet and sour sauce instead.

Pineapple: Add a 20-ounce can of pineapple chunks for more flavor - you may need to increase the cornstarch, as the sauce may become thinner.

What Other Cuts of Pork Can Be Used?

Pork loin is my first choice for this crockpot pork recipe. Other cuts that would work great are pork tenderloin (these are smaller; I'd use two). Or you can use pork shoulder; and cook about an hour longer.

    Can I Use Frozen Pork?

No, make sure your pork is completely thawed before using this recipe. Using frozen meat in the slow cooker can keep it in the danger zone too long.

How to Serve Sweet Chili Pork

Starch: The best way to serve this pork and sweet sauce is over steamed white rice. Brown rice or fried rice are great choices too.

Sides: A green vegetable is great with this! Think broccoli, asparagus, or sugar snap peas.

What Other Slow Cooker Pork Recipes to Make

For another sweet and savory dinner, try Honey Garlic Pork Loin, or make Honey Apple Pork Loin with tender apples and onions. Root Beer Pulled Pork makes easy barbecue sandwiches, while Pulled Pork Nachos are a fun choice for game day. For a classic comfort meal, try Slow Cooker Pork and Sauerkraut.

    How to Video

    Ingredients

    • 3-4 lbs. Pork Loin, (not pork tenderloin)
    • 1 large white onion, diced into large chunks
    • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
    • 2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
    • 1 Tbsp. toasted sesame oil
    • 20.75 oz. Panda Express Sweet Chili Sauce

    Wait to add

    • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    • 3 Tbsp. water

    Serving Items

    • white rice
    • sliced green onions

    Instructions

    • Add the pork loin into the slow cooker. Add the diced onion around the pork.
    • Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar and toasted sesame oil.
    • Pour over the Sweet Chili Sauce.
    • Place the lid on the slow cooker.
    • Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or until tender.
    • Remove the pork from the slow cooker and slice or shred (depends on how long you cook it).
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water (I do this with a fork). Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce in the slow cooker, stir. Turn the slow cooker to high, replace the lid, and let it thicken. This may happen immediately, or it may need 10 minutes or so.
    • Serve the pork with rice and drizzle over the sauce.

    Sarah's Notes

Sauce not thick enough? Add another cornstarch slurry (a half batch), and it should thicken right up. It just means your pork loin was extra juicy.
Sweet and Sour Sauce can be used instead of Sweet Chili Sauce.
