Slow Cooker Crack Chicken has everything that is good and addicting in it! Filled with bacon, cheese, cream cheese, and ranch dressing mix.
Who doesn’t love a recipe with cream cheese in it! If you have extra cream cheese also try my olive garden chicken pasta or artichoke mushroom chicken.

I finally got around to trying this Slow Cooker Crack Chicken recipe. My neighbor told me about this crack chicken, though she makes instant pot crack chicken.
This crack chicken recipe is a creation by Shelly from the website Cookies and Cups. I am so glad I gave this recipe a try the flavors go so good together and go great over white rice which helps take away a bit of the saltiness.

How to make Crack Chicken:
I start with chicken thighs instead of breasts. I feel the thighs have more moisture, and the overall dish turns out decadent with the thighs. I also only use one ranch packet to cut back on the sodium.
You will need these ingredients:
- Chicken thighs – trim off excess fat
- Ranch dressing seasoning mix (can use dip mix if that’s what you have)
- Cream cheese
- Cheddar cheese
- Cooked bacon
- Green onions

- Add the chicken to the slow cooker.
- Top with the ranch packet and cream cheese. Wait to add the other ingredients.
How long do I cook?
- Place the lid on the slow cooker
- Cook on low for 7 hours and do not open the lid during the cooking time.

- After the cooking time is up, shred the chicken with 2 forks. I do this right in the slow cooker, no need to remove the chicken and dirty a plate.
- Add the cooked bacon then top with the cheddar cheese. Place the lid back on to let the cheese melt. Sprinkle over green onions if desired.

What to serve this with
- Over white rice (my favorite option)
- Eat it as is if you are on a low carb or keto diet
- Over-toasted hamburger buns
- Mashed potatoes
- Inside of baked potatoes
- With crackers; serve as a dip
- Add a salad on the side with any of the above options

This dish is so rich and creamy! I am dreaming about making it again this week. Such a fun recipe to try for a Sunday dinner or even to entertain guests. Give this recipe a try and let me know how you like it. Have a great week.

The recipe was very easy to follow. I added a little extra ranch and a lite seasoning to give it a little more flavor. But it tastes great! Thank you.
I took your advice and added a extra seasoning.
i was wanting to adapt tis to make white chicken chli could i make it then add green chilis for that? a recipe i have for white chicken chili uses similar ingredients
I don’t see why not, sounds great.
I honestly don’t see what all the rave is. Number one, to cook a chicken that long is overkill I could see maybe 4 hours but 7? Chicken falls apart on its own after about 3 hours, anyway. So, I think this recipe might be exclusive to instant pot instead of a slow cooker meal. Beef or Pork is more suited for a crock pot meal because it takes substantially longer to tenderize. Also, chicken doesn’t absorb the flavors as much as beef does.
Second, this is so very plain. Bacon and cheese…whoopty dooo dah. If I wanted a baked potato, I’d make one and it wouldn’t take 7-8 hours to do it. I feel like this is a fail all the way around. Imagine if I’d had to work when I made it. I’d come home to some dried up chicken that sat in the crockpot way too long or a house fire. The flavor wasn’t flavor. It was overwhelmingly salty cheese. The cheese alone is enough to constipate a normal healthy person for a month. I wasn’t impressed.
.
Jane, I can see you are a real treat! You saw the recipe and the amount of cheese, etc. I feel you just like to complain.
So fun fact, there’s this magical thing on the internet called KEEP scrolling! No one needed your negativity because you’re too lazy to take the time to make this delicious meal so please keep your opinions to yourself KAREN!
I don’t think you ACTALLY made this recipe. Don’t be a hater, just move on.
Why are you such a nasty human? If you don’t like it, just move on. No need to respond that way.
Did you actually cook this recipe? And if so, by the instructions? I did and it was fabulous. Sounds to me that you read the recipe and didn’t like it beforehand. I question if you even made it. Have you ever cooked chicken in a crock pot for 7hrs on low? It works fine. The chicken is moist and throughly cooked to temp. Maybe while you are surfing, you should pull up the word kindness. And read a little about that. If, as it sounds in your comments, that you never cooked this, you should delete/remove your nasty comments. Being a bully is not cool. You can dislike things and keep it to yourself or just say you didn’t like it. Your intent should not be to hurt others.
Very dry. Cooked it on low for 7 hours as suggested in recipe. Not good
Mine wasn’t dry, but it was definitely bland. I have a ton of leftovers and I’m going to have to add lots of hot sauce and spices to make it palatable. To each her own, I suppose.
I love this recipe. I add heavy whipping cream to make it not as thick.
Can I add pasta to the crockpot? Thinking like a Crack Chicken meets Mac and cheese? I’d think it would work with some added liquid and the noodles right?
It’s hard to say how the noodles would cook up. Often they don’t do well in the slow cooker.
I was thinking cook pasta separately and add chicken mixture if carbs are desired.
This is what I do, and my daughter loves it!!! I will also mix in creamy Italian dressing where one person said heavy cream, just so it isn’t as thick:)
I am going to add pasta and some pasta water before I put cheese on top.
This is absolutely delicious. Have been making this for years. Family and friends always request me to make. Alot of times have to double recipe. Have done different things with it over the years. Sometimes I omit the bacon if on hand or not. Also have substituted the ranch for onion soup mix and that’s awesome as well. Have had it seem a little dry before if that happens just add a little chicken broth or water to thin it to desired consistency. It’s definitely a favorite! We even use with wraps as well.
Those sound like great variations!
Thanks! Turned out great!
What is the serving size? It has the nutrition facts but does not say how much that is for.
I apologize that I do not provide that information!
It shows 6 servings in the dark portion at the top of the actual recipe.
Tried this recipe.. everyone raved about it including my fussy eater granddaughter.. will be a regular on my menu!
