Why These Meatballs Are Always a Hit
- I host a lot of parties and hate making the same recipes every time. These honey chipotle meatballs are just the recipe to change things up and wow your guests.
- They have a mouthwatering sauce that glazes the meatballs perfectly – everyone will ask what the recipe is.
- The slow cooker cooks the meatballs low and slow, making them more tender and helping them absorb the buttery barbecue sauce.
- Easy to make since we use frozen meatballs – great for last minute game day prep or holidays.
Key Ingredients
Yep, only four ingredients, but they will taste completely different than the usual meatball recipes we are used to.

Frozen Meatballs: Just grab a bag of your favorite brand – I usually use a homestyle variety.
Barbecue Sauce: For this unique recipe, I use Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey Chipotle Variety – it’s so good!
Butter: Use a half stick of salted butter – butter makes the sauce rich, silky, and extra flavorful. Butter is also the secret Ingredient in my Mississippi Pot Roast.
Brown Sugar: Adds a touch of sweetness and pairs well with the butter!
How to Make Honey Chipotle Meatballs
Trust your crockpot to make these meatballs! It only takes two steps.

- Pour the frozen meatballs into the crockpot.

- Add the sweet baby rays, butter and brown sugar. Cook until the meatballs are hot and have soaked up some of the sauce.

Variations
Sauce Sub: Can’t find honey chipotle barbecue sauce? Simply use regular barbecue sauce, then add 1 chopped chipotle pepper from a can and 2 TBSP. of honey.
Make it Spicy: Simply add a diced jalapeño at the beginning of the cooking time.

How to Serve Honey Chipotle Meatballs
As an Appetizer: Switch the slow cooker to warm after cooking and serve with toothpicks for your party! Other party appetizers we like to serve with this are Slow Cooker Artichokes and Slow Cooker Crab Dip.
Make it a Meal: These crockpot meals are hearty enough to be served as a main dish! Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed rice, or make it easy with slow cooker baked potatoes.
Toppings: These are great as is, but you can top the meatballs off with sliced chives, hot honey and chopped bacon.

Can Homemade Meatballs be Used?
Yes! Add sauce between the meatballs so they don’t stick to each other. Be sure they are cooked through before serving.
