Make the recipe your own by swapping out a few things!

  • Use fajita seasoning for more a kick of lime flavor.
  • Chive cream cheese can be used instead of standard cream cheese.
  • Ground chicken or turkey can be used but the flavor won’t be as decadent.
  • Use pepperjack cheese for a bit of spice.

My Tips

I’ve made this so many times! Here are my tips for the best results.

  • Soften the cream cheese for a few hours before starting the recipe OR warm the cream cheese in the microwave for about 20 seconds.
  • Be sure to let the ground beef and sauce thicken well before adding to the slow cooker.
  • If you use freshly shredded cheese off the block, it will melt better.
  • Switch the slow cooker to the warm setting for serving at your party.
  • Store in the fridge for up to four days or in the freeze for up to three months.

Do you have recipes for making your own seasoning such as taco seasoning, or one similar to the Lipton Onion soup seasoning. Both of these contain so much salt and I need to trim the salt down. Thank you, your time, and reading my comments.

I am starting to do this on my other site retro potluck. The only one I have so far is ranch seasoning.
