Do you love Arby’s Beef and Cheddars? Try my slow cooker version which has all the flavors but a tad healthier. We use a beef roast and real cheddar cheese in this version.
Other sandwiches style recipes we love to make in our crockpot are slow cooker french dips, slow cooker buffalo chicken and ohio chicken sandwiches.

Though this crockpot copycat Arby’s Beef and Cheddar recipe doesn’t have hand carved beef, instead it does have ultra tender shredded chuck roast. Along with cooking and serving with the Arby’s barbecue sauce (AND horsey sauce) it’s a winner recipe in my book.
Recipe Ingredients
- Chuck Roast – I know we use a chuck roast in many of our crockpot recipes, but it really is the best cut. It’s tender and has just the right amount of marbling.
- Arby’s Sauce – You can find this Arby’s sauce at most stores! If you can’t find it, you can use regular barbecue sauce.
- Onion – Sliced white onion cooks down with the roast and tastes great along with the beef.
- Seasonings – Salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
- For Serving – You will need more of the Arby’s sauce, horsey sauce, cheddar cheese and buns.
- {The full recipe is in the recipe card below the photos}.
Step-by-Step Directions
- Add the chuck roast, seasonings and Worcestershire sauce to the slow cooker.
- Add the onions and Arby’s sauce (barbecue sauce).
- When the cooking time is up remove the beef on to a plate and shred with two forks, discard the fat.
- Remove all the juices from the slow cooker EXCEPT about 1/2 cup, you can leave the onions in the slow cooker if desired. Add the meat to the juices in the slow cooker. Add the meat to the juices in the slow cooker.
How to Serve
- Serve the shredded beef on toasted hamburger buns, you can use plain buns, onion buns or sesame seed hamburger buns.
- Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top (or you can use nacho cheese or cheez whiz)
- Add Arby’s Sauce (barbecue sauce) and/or horsey sauce before adding your top bun.
Recipe FAQs
Store just the shredded beef in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 4 days. Or in the freezer for up to three months.

Shared this with a friend who was reoperating form surgery. We both loved it. Do not care that it is not like Arby’s it is delicious. Will most certainly make it again. Also my friend requested the recipe.

I’m so glad you tried this one! We loved it too!
Have you ever even had an Arby’s roast beef sandwich? This is absolutely nothing like it!
Please don’t call a recipe and knock off or a clone if it actually has nothing in common with the original.
Hi Jon, Yes I have. This is a slow cooker version of the beef and cheddar. It has beef, cheddar, bun and Arby’s sauce. And TASTES great. No, it’s not exact but it’s wonderful.
I agree it’s a beef and cheddar recipe.
I disagree with it being called an Arby’s Copycat recipe because it is NOT.
It tastes nothing like an actual Arby’s beef and cheddar sandwich.
