Why This Jalapeno Meatballs Recipe Works
Need something quick and easy for a potluck gathering? Or, how about for the upcoming game day? Whether you’re looking to serve a crowd or put something delicious together for dinner, this jalapeno meatballs recipe is a must try.
I like to make these for busy weekends because we can do so much with them. Once cooked, they can be plopped on top of a bed of mashed potatoes, added to a hoagie bun for a sandwich, or snacked on while getting a little work done.
The best part about this recipe is it only calls for just a few ingredients, none of which are made from scratch. That means quick prep time and a cooking time that won’t take all day. For a great party, also make my restaurant style queso.
Recipe Ingredients
- Frozen Meatballs: You can use any brand or flavor you prefer. Turkey and beef meatballs taste great with this recipe.
- Sweet Chili Sauce: I like the Trader Joe’s brand.
- Hot Pepper Jelly: I use the Reese brand Hot Pepper jelly that has red jalapenos in it.
- Beer: I recommend using a light beer like Pilsner.
- Seasonings: Black pepper, kosher salt, and paprika are the only seasonings you need. (Find the full recipe in the recipe card below the photos).
Step-by-Step Directions
Step One – In a small bowl, mix the pepper jelly, chili sauce, beer and seasoning blend.
Step Two – Add the meatballs (from frozen) to the slow cooker. Pour over the sauce to cover the meatballs and mix well.
Step Three – Cover and cook on HIGH for 3 hours or LOW for 5 hours. Serve and enjoy!
How to Serve
- Serve as an appetizer (perfect for game day).
- These meatballs can also be served as a complete meal on top of brown or white rice, cauliflower rice, or quinoa.
- When it comes to sides, pair them with cooked broccoli, roasted vegetables, or creamy coleslaw.
- They make delicious subs and wraps topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado slices, and/or cucumber sauce.
- Other appetizers to serve that we love are Rotel Dip, Crockpot Spinach Dip and Crockpot Artichokes.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, you can use ground beef, a beef and pork mix or use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
I don’t think they are very spicy at all. In fact, you could even spice them up even more by using freshly cut jalapenos. Adding the seeds will make it even spicier.
Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. You can freeze the cooked meatballs for future use by placing them in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 2-3 months.
Of course! I recommend browning the meatballs prior to adding them to the slow cooker.
