Awesome I’ve actually made this several times, if I am careful I can turn it upside down over a plate and it comes out like a cake an I frost it like a German chocolate cake my kids all like it.

Mine came out dry and crumbled; I followed the recipe. Even the ice cream didn’t do the trick.

So Awesome to find this recipe Sarah, I’ve subbed your site which for me is a rare thing. And have just recently discover the wonderful things my two crockpots can do! I have had no oven for the last 6 months as we are remodeling, and am elated to find so many wonderful “baked” treats, that we have done without until now. It never occurred to me to try baking in it! Now, I’m sold – oven or no!

        Re:” German Chocolate Cake “origin,
German’s (as in the surname) Chocolate Cake is the official name, and all of America, for ages, has just called it “German Chocolate Cake. The recipe is found on the back of every German’s Sweet Chocolate baking bar with which it is traditionally made. It is our personal family favorite- with a double recipe of the coconut pecan frosting and filling – which I will top this cake with in its warm, melty yummy goodness for the full experience-

  6. Brooke says:

Anyone double it? How much longer does it need to cook?

  7. Rebecca says:

Made this today for a friend’s birthday at work. It was a hit! I’ll definitely be making it again. Thanks for sharing!

That is awesome. We love this cake too!

  8. wanda j says:

I put a crockpot liner in crockpot to save clean up time. I also put a couple of paper towels on top before lid to catch the water drops. Some crockpots get hotter on the edges so if your does put a piece of foil on that edge before putting in liner.

This looks and sounds incredible, yum!
