How to make bacon cheeseburger dip in a crockpot
I have another game day recipe for you today: Hearty Bacon Cheeseburger Dip. This dip has everything that you would have in-between burger buns, minus the lettuce and pickles. I add sour cream to make this dip creamy. A Perfect dip for football parties.
What you need for bacon cheeseburger dip:
This dip has everything you love about a bacon cheeseburger packed into one bowl! It starts with gooey Velveeta cheese and creamy sour cream for that smooth, melty texture. Crumbled bacon and ground beef bring the hearty, savory flavors, while petite diced tomatoes and diced red onion add just the right amount of freshness. A sprinkle of salt, pepper, and Montreal Steak Seasoning ties it all together, giving the perfect kick of burger-like flavor. Grab some tortilla or potato chips, and you’re ready to dig in! {The full recipe is in the recipe card below the images}
Variations
- Instead of ground beef, crumbled and cooked sausage is a great choice for cheese dips. Make sure to drain it well and dab with paper towels for it can be greasy.
- To make spicy, use Rotel tomatoes or hot salsa instead of diced tomatoes. Add chopped jalapenos or serrano peppers. Or you can even add canned diced jalapenos.
- Pickles can be added if you truly want a cheeseburger style dip.
- Add the cubed velveeta to the slow cooker.
- Next add the cooked ground beef, cooked bacon and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours.
- Stir occasionally.
- Serve and enjoy!
Recipe FAQs
Add a splash of milk. Or an additional can of diced tomatoes. Now if your dip is to thin, simply leave the lid off for a bit and it will thicken up.
Serve the warm cheesy dip with ground beef and bacon with one or more of the following:
Tortilla Chips – Choose a strong chip; don’t buy tortilla chips labeled “thin.”
Potato Chips – Ruffles with ridges work best.
Veggies – Offer carrot or celery sticks for those who are eating lower carb.
