About Sarah

Welcome to The Magical Slow Cooker! I’m Sarah Olson, and since 2013, I’ve been sharing my favorite slow cooker recipes to help make mealtime easier and more enjoyable. What started with dishes like Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs and Baked Potato Soup has grown into a collection of over 800 crockpot recipes (and many more to come!).

My journey began during my ten years as a mail carrier, when I relied on slow cooker meals to simplify dinner after long days. Now, I focus full-time on developing approachable, flavorful recipes that bring comfort to your table. Even though I no longer work outside the home, my passion for slow cooking continues to inspire new creations every week.

I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. I make about three or four slow cooker meals a week. On the other days, we either dine out or I make super easy meals.

The Magical Slow Cooker Cookbook

I was lucky enough to write a slow cooker cookbook in 2015, early in my career.

  • The book was published in partnership with Cedar Fort Publishing.
  • I do say that promoting that book was one of the best times of my life. It was available at Costco, Barnes and Noble, and more.
  • Sadly, the book is out of print, but you can get an ebook version here: The Magical Slow Cooker Cookbook, Recipes for Busy Families.
  • The jury is still out on whether I will write another cookbook! I’m looking for the right publisher if I do.

Brands I’ve worked with

Over the years, I’ve collaborated with brands that align perfectly with my recipes.

I’ve been cooking up and sharing recipes since 2013, and it’s been amazing to see them featured in various places over the years!

FAQs

What is your favorite slow cooker?

I love Crock-Pot Brand! It cooks evenly and looks great left out on the counter all year round. I buy most of my crock pots at Target.

How many crock pots do you own?

It varies, I buy many throughout the year and often give away ones I don’t have room for. I have about 30 crock pots at this very moment.

Do you ever make anything for dinner that isn’t in the slow cooker?

Yes! I do love oven casseroles, easy skillet meals, and most of all, I love takeout. I use my slow cooker about 3-4 nights a week.

My other Recipe Website:

I have another recipe website that has everything I make that is not made in the slow cooker, that site is called Retro Potluck. The Retro has recipes from retro cookbooks, handwritten recipe cards and my newest creations. My top recipes there are Butterfinger Cookies and Bisquick Cheddar Garlic Biscuits.
