Use your crockpot to make a Holiday Potpourri! Let it simmer all day and enjoy the holiday scents throughout the house.

We used to have a simmer pot growing up during the holidays (on the stove top). And always had one of those dried bowls of potpourri on the table! Now I can use my slow cooker to fill the house with a great scent – this trend never goes out of style. This slow cooker potpourri will be a staple in your house this time of year.

What you Need
Orange – This is a classic choice for holiday potpourri (both fall and winter).
Cranberries – Not only add that festive smell, but also looks pretty.
Rosemary – An easy to find greenery that smells great!
Cinnamon – Once these heat up and break down they add the main holiday smell

How to Make Crockpot Potpourri
- Add the fruits, spice, and rosemary to the crockpot.
- Heat until hot and fragrant and enjoy the holiday aroma.
What else can be added to a simmer pot
Other Pines: Use Christmas tree trimmings, or any pine tree trimmings from your yard.
Other Citrus: Don’t have orange – lemon works well too, it will be more of a clean scent.
Other Spices: Add additional spices, such as whole cloves or star anise. If you don’t have whole spices you can use a few teaspoons of ground spices!
Mulling Spices: You can skip many of the ingredients and simply use about a 1/4 cup of mulling spice. I love Williams and Sonoma’s Mulling Spices.

What Size Slow Cooker Works Best for Potpourri?
You can use a mini slow cooker up to the largest size (7-quart). Whatever size you have will work great.
How Long Can I Keep Crockpot Potpourri On For?
For safety reasons, I do not leave mine going 24/7. I only leave it on while I am home. Be sure to keep the water level up.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 1-2 sliced oranges
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- rosemary (small bunch of it), I use 4 sprigs (can use any pine clippings)
- 3 or more cinnamon sticks
Instructions
- Add the sliced orange, cranberries, rosemary and cinnamon sticks to the slow cooker. Add enough water to cover (leave an inch of room at the top, so it won't overflow).
- Cover and cook on HIGH until good and hot (about 2-3 hours). Then switch to warm and enjoy the scents of your homemade potpourri. You can leave the lid off for an even stronger scent.
