Welcome to The Magical Slow Cooker where I share all my favorite slow cooker recipes. I started this recipe site in January 2013. The first recipes that inspired this website are Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs and Slow Cooker Baked Potato Soup.
I really can’t explain what made me start this blog. I do remember realizing that the only thing that would make me jump out of bed were the days I had a new slow cooker meal planned.
Previously, I was a mail carrier for ten years! That job was and the main reason I needed slow cooker meals! But I am now working on recipe development full time for my love for slow cooking is still here even though I don’t work away from home anymore.
I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon with my husband our 12-year-old daughter. I make about 3 or 4 slow cooker meals a week, the other days we either dine out or I make meals that are super easy to put together.
I have another recipe website that has everything I make that is not made in the slow cooker, that site is called Retro Potluck. The Retro has recipes from retro cookbooks, handwritten recipe cards and also my newest creations. My top recipes there are Butterfinger Cookies and Bisquick Cheddar Garlic Biscuits.

Hi Sarah
Thanks for your time and effort in making these delicious recipes available..for slo cooking!!
Here in AZ, our summers are just too hot for cooking out side too, sometimes. We use our slow cookers and my Ninja multi cooker and cook on the patio ,while my kitchen stays cool.
I have an antique round 3 quart slow cooker and Saturday nights I prepare one of your great recipes for an “old man alone” Sunday fiests. Thank you. They are great, especially the Brats & Beer but I use Newcastle Ale. Mmmmm
That’s great Steve! Thank you for the kind comment!
Hi from Tillamook!!! I loved you showed a bar of Tillamook Sharp Cheddar Cheese in one of your recipes. It was excellent. I plan on looking to your blog in the future for more recipes.
Hi Jody! We live in Springfield, Oregon! We go to Tillamook once a year for the cheeses factory. Is the new one done yet?
Just found your site. Slow Cooker Salsa Verde drew me. Know before make this dip delicious because familiar all ingredients. Am 78 with arthritis so simpler the better for me. Going to check out more your recipes.
Hi Sarah, I’m using you as a kick start to my cooking. I’m new to slow cookers(cooking as a whole is new to me). I was wondering as I went through the chicken recipes and it came to me like a rushing tide. I know you are in USA so would I come up with problems with ingredients as I live in the UK. I know from experience that some products aren’t available here so obviously I would have to use substitutes. Being a complete novice this is out of my spectrum. Hope you can offer advice.
Roger
Hey there,
Recently retired with a working wifey!!!! I love these ideas and a slow cooker seems to be a lazy mans dream… can cook, do stuff around the house and it makes me a hero to the boss!!! I love to eat the these recipes are great. Who knew, I love cooking with fresh ingredients ( diabetic here), and having time to enjoy my retirement… THANKs and aloha and mahalo nui loa.
That’s great Wayne! Glad to hear you are cooking up some great recipes.
Thank you for all the yummy recipes! I’ve used my crockpot for years & love coming home from work knowing dinner is done! Our son & I are vegan so I am adjusting some of your recipes, but I know they will be delicious! I love that you post a video, I’m a visual person. Since our kitchen is being renovated, the crockpot is the easiest way to cook!
Just discovered your blog…a friend was kind enough to share one of your recipes on FB. This is a great find – thanks for your recipes, can’t wait to try some!
Hi Sarah. I stumbled across your website/blog yesterday and it’s fab! I’m about to buy my first crock-pot -the one I’ve decided upon is a 4 litre model. Is it easy to search for 4L recipes on your site or are they all for bigger slow cooker models?
Hi Lesley! Is it a 4-quart? A lot of my recipe are for the 6-quart. My advice is if it fits it cooks. 4-quart is still a pretty good size and a good size of my recipes can be made in one. You can search 4-quart on my blog and the recipes should come up for 4-quart or larger. Make sure to use the – sign in your search.
Oh wow just discovered this. I need to get a 3rd crock pot i see too many on here I need to make right now
Thank you Sarah for all the great recipes..
