Author:
Sarah Olson
Ingredients
2
lbs.
sirloin steaks
any small steaks can be used - I buy a bulk pack. (about 3-5 steaks depending on their size)
1/2
cup
brown sugar
3/4
cup
low sodium soy sauce
1
Tbsp.
sesame oil
(find this near the soy sauce at the store)
1
Tbsp.
minced garlic cloves
1
tsp.
minced fresh ginger root
(or 1/4 tsp. ground)
1/4
tsp.
red pepper flakes
2
Tbsp.
cornstarch
2
Tbsp.
water
For Serving
toasted sesame seeds
green onions
mashed potatoes
Instructions
Add the steaks to the slow cooker. Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
In a small bowl, whisk together the water and corn starch. Pour over everything in the slow cooker.
Mix everything together, I do this by flipping over the steaks into the sauce.
Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 5 hours.
Serve with mashed potatoes, topped with green onion and toasted sesame seeds.
Notes
If you want to use regular soy sauce (not low sodium) substitue 1/4 cup of it with water.
