Cook on HIGH for about and hour and a half. (or until the chocolate chips melt and the cocoa is hot).
Add more green food coloring if desired. Serve in mugs topped with whipped cream (or marshmallows) nd red heart sprinkles.
Notes
Place the leftover hot chocolate in the fridge for up to three days. The best way to reheat is on the stove top over low heat.
After heating the hot chocolate, turn the slow cooker to warm and stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
Variations:
Mint extract can be added for a festive touch. Just a half teaspoon is plenty!
The recipe can be doubled for a large crowd.
I don't recommend any milk other than dairy for it will effect the taste, you can use half heavy cream though.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve your Grinch crockpot hot chocolate with a generous swirl of whipped cream—whether you make it homemade or use store-bought, it’s sure to be a hit! Top with festive red sprinkles, and for a little extra holiday magic, try heart-shaped sprinkles or classic red sugar crystals.
For an even more fun and cozy touch, add marshmallows or a sprinkle of crushed candy canes. These toppings not only look festive but add just the right hint of sweetness and crunch to every sip!
