Slow Cooker Beef Stew

MIX SEASONING

Add the flour and seasonings to a bowl or large ziplock bag, stir or shake to distribute the seasoning with the flour.

STEP  1

ADD MEAT

Add the beef cubes.

COAT MEAT

Stir the beef into the flour mixture (or shake your ziplock bag) until they are evenly coated.

HEAT SKILLET

Set a large skillet to medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add the oil.

BROWN THE BEEF

Brown the beef on both sides; no need to cook through; the slow cooker will do that.

ADD BROTH

After you have browned the beef, add the tomato paste and beef broth. Stir. Let the sauce and beef simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.

COOK

Add your vegetables to the slow cooker and pour the beef and broth mixture. Stir. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours.

ADD PEAS

Add the frozen peas (if you like them) after the cooking time is up. Add the lid back on and let the peas come to temperature.
