Rinse and drain the berries, leave them wet, not need to dry them. Add to the slow cooker.
Sprinkle over the sugar and corn starch. Zest the orange and add that to the berries. Squeeze the juice of the orange over the berries. Add the water.
Stir.
Cover and cook on HIGH For 2.5 hours.
Stir and serve over ice cream. Or refrigerate and serve later.
Notes
Frozen cherries, frozen raspberries, frozen blueberries, or any frozen fruit can be used in this recipe. Frozen mixed berries are an excellent choice when fresh summer berries are out of season.
Instead of white sugar, you can use maple syrup, brown sugar, cane sugar, stevia, etc. Just add your favorite sweetener to taste for each one will have a different measurement.
Easily reheat on the stovetop or in a microwave (in 15-20 second spurts).
This delicious dessert is best stored in an airtight jar, similar to a mason jar. It will keep in the fridge for up to a week. You can also freeze it! Try storing it in an ice cube tray to make small portions.
